PRE-SCHOOL
Our Mission
To prepare students for the promise of their tomorrow.
Our Philosophy
The purpose and intention of the Baldwin Preschool is to provide the best possible education and equal education opportunity for the young children in our community. To accomplish this purpose, the school district endeavors to provide the best possible educational facilities and the most competent and sensitive professionally trained personnel. We believe in a play based approach to learning for all preschool children. We guide the children's play experiences to help them learn the skills that they need to succeed in their future educational experiences.
Admission and Withdrawal Policies
Baldwin preschool accepts children who are at least 3.5 years of age by September 1st. All students enrolling in the preschool program must be toilet trained. Students must be enrolled by their parents or legal guardian. When enrolling, parents must provide copies of the following documents:
*Baldwin School Enrollment Form
*Child’s Emergency information form (filled out after acceptance to program)
*Copy of child’s birth certificate
*Copy of child’s up-to-date immunization record or waiver from the Department of
Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
*Health Appraisal
*Proof of residency in the Baldwin School District
To withdraw from the program, parents are asked to give written notice or fill out an intent to withdraw form (available at elementary office). Advance notice of withdrawal is appreciated as it gives children the opportunity to get physically and emotionally ready for the changes that will be occurring.
Our Vision
Baldwin Community Schools will collaborate with parents and the community to educate, empower, and prepare all students for their future as responsible, contributing citizens, capable of thriving in an ever-changing world. BCS is committed to prioritizing student achievement and fostering a safe, supportive environment that values student voices and promotes a sense of belonging.
Our Curriculum
We use the Connect4Learning curriculum which is research-based and classroom- tested with foundations in literacy, science, social-emotional, and mathematics learning. Connect4Learning weaves together all four domains to ensure that each subject is 3 addressed meaningfully and comprehensively with each child. Connect4Learning features six curriculum units that are focused on supporting children's development of ten comprehensive cognitive processes. These core processes are both domain specific and applicable across all four learning domains.
